One World Adventure Company is a 501(c) 3, Outdoor Education organization in scenic, Fort Payne, Alabama who is working to foster healthy lifestyles in their community in order to improve the quality of life of its citizens and the tourist who adore visiting our beautiful area.

Premised on the belief that outdoor education enhances personal development, the organization has been providing  quality outdoor education programs and adventure excursions since its beginning in 2008. With Lookout Mountain and the Little River Canyon as our classroom, One World provides enrichment classes to our local school system, sharing Alabama‚Äôs amazing biodiversity. With program participation continuing to rise, this preventative and holistic approach of experiential learning is vital to the health and youth development in Mentone, Fort Payne and rural Dekalb County and is a top priority of One World Adventure.

Our purpose is to engage participants on multiple levels during an experience. Of course participants learn important hard skills associated with the activities, such as climbing, kayaking and canoeing, however the greater purpose is to teach youth how to work together, to rely on each other, to communicate effectively, and to develop meaningful relationships with each other - life skills. Our focus of providing Outdoor Education Programs to our community is to develop strength within the individual, between individuals, and between the individual/group and the environment.

What started out as a dream long ago, became a reality. Founded in 2008, Bill and Angie Shugart set out on a mission to provide a quality summer camp for local youth. The grassroots organization steadily grew into environmental education outreach into local schools and outdoor excursions for visitors. It is now, a thriving program with great partners and supporters that have helped bring  us full circle into a successful community based organization.
